Development and Management of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs)    Completed

Project Lead: Mohammed El-Khawad
Duration: 01 Sep 2013 to 31 Aug 2020

Description :

The project supported the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of India in the development of two concepts for NAMAs incl. the corresponding MRV systems. Both sectors (waste and forest) are prominently named in the Indian NDC and are hence important to reach the Indian climate targets. In the second phase, the NAMA Waste will be piloted in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) and the state of Goa. The Forest NAMA will be piloted in two districts in the state of Assam and aims to reduce emissions by reducing firewood consumption through energy-efficient technologies and alternative fuels in households. At the same time, as a third component, the project has assumed the interface function for all IKI projects in India. All three components will be implemented jointly with The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI).
